Chamber membership and application
Membership to the Chamber of Mines is voluntary and caters to all players in Namibia’s mining industry. Despite the voluntary nature of membership, all formal mining operations are members of the Chamber, which is testament to the outstanding service delivery by the Chamber and its value proposition.
Chamber membership also comes with obligations to adhere to the Chamber Constitution and Code of Conduct and Ethics.

Benefits of Chamber Membership
Herewith are some of the main benefits associated with the various classes of Chamber membership.
Class A description
Class A membership is designed for the large mining operations in Namibia and is determined using a set assessment criteria.
Benefits of Class A membership:
- Automatic representation on the Chamber of Mines Council, the highest decision-making body governing the Chamber of Mines,
- Voting rights at AGMs or Council meetings,
- Direct input into regulatory and policy matters affecting the industry,
- Work Permits and Work Visa applications to Home Affairs handled by the Chamber on behalf of Class A, B, and C & D members. The Chamber has a dedicated staff member who works with Home Affairs on a daily basis and has delivered excellent outcomes,
- Discounted exhibitor prices for Mining Expo & Conference,
- Receive direct updates and communication relating to strategic issues of the Chamber as well as regulatory and policy matters via the office of the CEO,
- Promotion of member’s achievements, milestones and contributions via Chamber website, social media channels and Chamber publications (Chamber quarterly newsletter and Chamber Annual Review),

Class B description
The Class B membership category comprises of medium-sized mining operations and is determined using a set assessment criteria.

Class D description
Class D exclusively consists of any company or individual engaged in prospecting/exploration of minerals in Namibia.

- Representation on Council through an elected representative from among the exploration members,
- Indirect input into regulatory and policy matters affecting the industry via representative,
- Work Permit and Work Visa applications to Home Affairs handled by the Chamber on behalf of Class A, B, C & D members. The Chamber has a dedicated staff member who works with Home Affairs on a daily basis with excellent outcomes,
- Direct input into policy matters and other issues affecting exploration in Namibia via the Chamber of Mines exploration Committee,
- Promotion of member’s achievements, milestones and contributions via Chamber website, social media channels and Chamber publications (Chamber quarterly newsletter and Chamber Annual Review),
- Access to timely updates on industry developments and information via the Chamber social media handles and website,
- Receive hard copies of Chamber publications (Chamber quarterly newsletter and Chamber Annual Review),

- Automatic membership to the Chamber Exploration Committee and interaction with the Mining Commissioner and the Head of the Geological Survey of Namibia. Both are members of the Exploration Committee and regularly attend meetings to provide clarity on a number of issues from the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
Associate membership description
The associate membership category generally consists of service providers and suppliers to the industry.
