The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, in collaboration with the Namibian Uranium Association and various other stakeholders, held it’s annual career fair from the 10th – 13th May at the Swakopmund Multipurpose Centre.

The Namibian Uranium Association, Rössing Uranium, Swakop Uranium, Orano Mining Namibia, Langer Heinrich Uranium and Reptile Mineral Resources and Exploration were among 20 institutions that exhibited the myriad of career options the learners could pursue once they complete secondary school.

The career fair, held under the theme ‘Reinventing Career Creativity’, also hosted daily panel discussions addressing issues that could potentially hamper learners’ career paths and advise them on how to navigate obstacles.

Daily presentations were also held during the fair. Presenters included Christine De Klerk, from Orano Mining Namibia who gave an introduction to the Erongo Desalination Plant and John Kandjungu and Johann van der Merwe from Reptile Mineral Resources and Exploration who spoke about the different Career Options in Mining.

The Career Fair was attended by 21 high schools from the region, with a total number of 1,763 learners.
