The Namibian Occupational Hygiene Forum (NOHF) revived their live practical workshops after a few years of an industry-wide lull in activity, with a Hand Protection Workshop on 19th July 2022, in association with the Namibian Uranium Institute, CYMOT and KNIGHT SAFETY GRANBERG Gloves.

The workshop was entitled “If Your Hands Could Choose” and covered the value of using the right glove for the right application. The presenter, Michelle Lewis, explained that “a glove is not just a glove” and helped inform attendees about relevant EN Protection Standards and Symbols, together with some insightful performance comparisons on differences between new and previous standards ratings on various glove types.

Both morning and afternoon sessions were attended by representatives of several uranium mines and marine engineering companies, and the South African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH) continued their support with SAIOH Member CPD attendance points.

NOHF plans to continue furthering occupational hygiene and safety interests in mining and other industries with more similar events.
