The Rössing Foundation, with the support from Rössing Uranium Limited, donated N$750,000 worth of equipment and materials to enhance teaching and learning environment at Bunya Combined School in Kavango-West region, Andimba Toivo ya Toivo Secondary School and Nangolo Secondary school in Oshana region.
Speaking at the handover ceremony at Bunya Combined school, The Rössing Foundation Executive Director Uparura Kuvare said, Rössing Foundation will continue to contribute to scholarly advancement of the youth.
“It is our sincere desire to further help the Bunya Combined School Management cultivate academic performance outcomes amongst its learners and teachers, with the intention of uplifting the performance ratings of the school,” he said.
“We wholeheartedly look forward to collaborating with the Directorate of Education, Arts and Culture working towards the improvement of teaching and learning in schools within the Kavango West region.
“We understand that there are more pressing needs of the Bunya Combined School. We will do our part to be your ambassadors in engaging other corporates to consider extending a hand of friendship to the school.
For Bunya Combined school, a donation valued at N$ 400 000, comprised of 600 science textbooks, 80 calculators, 1 science lab station and consumables, 110 mathematical sets, 2 projectors, 1 speaker system, 96 ablution chemicals, 100 school desks, 100 chairs, and building materials to complete the construction of classrooms.
The Foundation committed an additional N$400,000 to install a solar borehole pumping system and water distribution network at the school.
The donation also comprising of textbooks and learning materials to both Toivo ya Toivo Secondary School was valued at (N$200,000) and Nangolo Secondary school (N$150,000).The donation forms part of the 17 schools identified for support to enhance learning and teaching at school.
