Throughout 2025, the Swakop Uranium Foundation strengthened its drive to support sustainable community development, placing greater emphasis on aligning its projects with Namibia’s national ambitions such as Vision 2030, Namibia’s Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This commitment reflects the Foundation’s ongoing focus on ensuring that its work delivers practical benefits for local communities while actively contributing to broader national development efforts.
In 2025, a range of initiatives showcased how targeted investment can help improve safety, education, environmental stewardship and economic opportunities mainly in the Erongo Region.
Flagship projects of note include the Swakop Uranium Foundation’s Hope Farm and Peace Swakopmund initiatives. Under the Hope Farm initiative, livestock farming support was provided to farmers for the first time in the Foundation’s history through a N$3 million investment.
Through the Peace Swakopmund initiative, two Solar High Mast Light Towers were erected in the Wagdaar Community of the DRC Settlement in Swakopmund to address safety and security concerns. This project is supported by an annual investment of N$800,000.00.
These two key ongoing projects, implemented in partnership with government and private sector stakeholders, symbolize a ten-year commitment by the Foundation to uplift the livelihoods of the Namibian people.
Highlights of the Foundation’s 2025 CSR Activities
1. George Simataa Book Donation
The Foundation purchased and distributed 1,000 copies of George Simataa’s latest book to IUM, NUST, UNAM as well as schools and national libraries. His reflections on public service and personal discipline are intended to inspire young readers and future leaders.

2. DRC Solar Light Towers
Two solar high-mast light towers were installed in the Wagdaar community of the DRC informal settlement in Swakopmund. This forms part of the Foundation’s long-term Peace Swakopmund project, which commits to installing two towers every year for the next decade. The improved lighting is expected to enhance safety in the area, particularly for women and children. The Solar Light Towers were inaugurated by the Governor of the Erongo Region, Hon. Nathalia /Goagoses.

3. NAMPOL Equipment Support
To boost police efficiency and visibility, the Foundation donated computers and other equipment to NAMPOL (Erongo Region). The handover took place at Tutaleni Police Station in Walvis Bay, attended by the Inspector General of NAMPOL and the former Erongo Regional Governor. The donation supports community safety and overall well-being in the region.

4. World Environment Day Initiative
With support and expertise from Swakop Uranium’s SSHER department, the Foundation sponsored an environmental awareness and waste-segregation event at Namib High School. The campaign encouraged responsible environmental practices, contributing to national climate resilience efforts and global environmental goals.

5. Effective Communications Conference
The Foundation hosted the Government Communicators Conference in Swakopmund. The event, attended by ICT Minister Hon. Emma Theofelus and Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture, Hon. Dino Ballottii, focused on strengthening public engagement and ensuring clear communication of government priorities. It also served as an education platform for government officials and communicators from both the public and private sector, enhancing effective communication skills.

6. Vennessa Kindergarten Support
In the DRC informal settlement, Vennessa Kindergarten and Daycare received support in the form of roof repairs, furniture, mattresses, a whiteboard, a tablet and tracksuits for the children. The assistance ensures that young learners from low-income families have a safe and supportive environment in which to learn.
To promote sports development among young people, the Foundation funded the Namibia Table Tennis Association. The support will help develop young players from low-income families and contribute to building a strong talent pipeline for the sport.
8. Launch of the Hope Farm Project
The Foundation’s flagship project was the launch of the Hope Farm initiative, undertaken in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform. The N$3 million revolving livestock project supports farmers across the Erongo Region.
In Phase one, 630 animals were distributed to 30 beneficiaries. The remaining 370 animals were allocated to 18 farmers by the end of 2025. After 15 months, beneficiaries will return 10 young animals each, ensuring the project can continue to support new farmers.
The Foundation was especially proud to welcome two agriculture graduates from the University of Namibia to its team. Their support brings fresh expertise and hands-on assistance to the Hope Farm project and its beneficiaries, strengthening monitoring and evaluation efforts.

A Continued Commitment to Sustainable Development
Over the next ten years, the Swakop Uranium Foundation will continue standing alongside government as a committed partner in uplifting livelihoods of the Namibian people. By aligning its work with national development plans and global goals, the Foundation is demonstrating that thoughtful, intentional and community-driven investment can create long-term change.
The Foundation’s 2025 initiatives helped reinforce its mission: to support national development, uplift communities and contribute to a Namibia where everyone has the chance to thrive.
Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, the Foundation is excited to roll out new projects such as establishing community gardens across the country to support food security, build skills and strengthen communities.
The Foundation will also continue to implement the Computer Lab Project annually, equipping schools with computers and tools to help close the digital divide, particularly in less-privileged areas.
