Chamber Hosts a Successful 2025 Inter-Mine Sports Games

The Chamber of Mines of Namibia successfully hosted the Inter-Mine Sports Games for the first time on 21–22 November 2025 in Swakopmund, bringing together approximately 350 participants from across Namibia’s mining industry for a vibrant weekend of competition, unity, and camaraderie. Selected soccer and volleyball matches commenced on Thursday, 20 November, to accommodate the high number of participating teams.

The Games took place at the Vineta Central Sports Complex, the Vineta North Fields, and the Rossmund Golf Course. Proceedings officially opened with a lively street parade on the morning of 21 November, as teams marched from the Swakopmund Municipality parking area through town to the Vineta Central Sports Complex, creating an energetic and celebratory atmosphere.

Once a longstanding highlight on the mining industry calendar, the Inter-Mine Sports Games were discontinued during the global financial crisis. The event was successfully reintroduced in 2022 by Swakop Uranium and has since evolved into a collective industry initiative coordinated through the Chamber. The 2025 edition therefore marked a significant milestone, as it was the first time the Chamber formally assumed full hosting responsibility for the Games. Today, the event plays an important role in promoting teamwork, strengthening inter-company relationships, and identifying and nurturing sporting talent within the sector.

The Games featured a wide range of sporting codes, including soccer, netball, volleyball, pool, chess, darts, and golf. Participating Chamber members included Debmarine Namibia, B2Gold Namibia, Namdeb, Rosh Pinah Zinc Corporation, NIMT, Swakop Uranium, QKR Namibia Navachab Gold Mine, Andrada Mining, Reptile Mineral Resources and Exploration, Orano, Rössing Uranium, Beifang, and Langer Heinrich Uranium.

At the close of the Games, Swakop Uranium emerged as the overall winners, followed by Namdeb as first runner-up and Navachab Gold Mine as second runner-up, marking a competitive and memorable conclusion to a highly successful industry event.
