Guided by its core values of Integrity, Courage, Respect and Community, Langer Heinrich Mine (LHM) continues to demonstrate its commitment to making a positive and lasting contribution to sustainable development.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Framework, LHM recently supported a range of initiatives aimed at improving healthcare access, strengthening education, protecting the environment, supporting youth entrepreneurship and expanding access to affordable housing.
LHM supports community healthcare access
In collaboration with the Cancer Association of Namibia, LHM has contributed to bringing specialised cancer care closer to the community that its employees and their families call home.
As the first public oncology facility outside Windhoek, the Walvis Bay Oncology Centre brings essential care closer to patients and reduces the need for lengthy travel to access treatment.
LHM also contributed to the opening of the new Palliative Care Namibia Erongo Centre, which will provide specialised palliative care services to patients throughout the region.
LHM supports youth education
LHM contributed 3,467 textbooks to support Grade 10 to Grade 12 learners at eight schools in the Swakopmund and Walvis Bay education circuits.
The contribution will improve access to essential learning materials and empower learners with the knowledge and resources required to strengthen their academic performance.

LHM supports environmental sustainability
LHM contributed to improvements to the communication network covering more than 800,000 hectares of the Namib-Naukluft Park, Namibia’s largest conservation area.
The investment enhances communication and coordination between park wardens during biodiversity conservation operations, including anti-poaching activities.
Reliable communication across the vast conservation area will help wardens respond more effectively, share important information and strengthen the protection of Namibia’s natural heritage.
LHM supports youth entrepreneurship
Through the Youth Entrepreneurial Development Initiative, launched in collaboration with the Swakopmund Municipality, LHM supported 86 young entrepreneurs with equipment to establish sustainable businesses.
The initiative provides young people with practical resources to turn their business ideas into income-generating ventures, supporting self-employment, economic participation and long-term financial independence.

LHM supports access to affordable housing
LHM contributed essential equipment to the Henties Bay Municipality’s Brickmaking Project to support access to quality and affordable building materials.
The project will contribute to sustainable housing delivery while creating opportunities for skills development, local employment and economic empowerment.
By strengthening local brickmaking capacity, the initiative will support the municipality’s efforts to address housing needs and improve living conditions within the community.

Creating lasting community impact
Through these initiatives, LHM continues to demonstrate that responsible mining extends beyond its operational boundaries.
Its investments in healthcare, education, conservation, entrepreneurship and housing reflect a broader commitment to supporting resilient communities and creating opportunities that deliver lasting social and economic value.
Guided by Integrity, Courage, Respect and Community, LHM remains committed to working with its partners to advance sustainable development and improve the quality of life of communities in the Erongo Region.
