RMR Updates Hon. Governor Andre on Tumas Project Progress

Reptile Mineral Resources and Exploration (RMR) recently engaged with the Honourable Governor of the Erongo Region, Neville Andre, to provide an update on the progress of the Tumas Project. Leading the discussion was Dr Katrin Kärner, Exploration Manager at RMR, who outlined the significant advancements and outlook of the project.

During the meeting, Dr Kärner emphasised the key milestones achieved from the early exploration phases to the planned transition into mining. She highlighted the substantial investment of N$8 billion required for the development of the project, underscoring the Deep Yellow Group’s commitment to sustainable resource development in Namibia.

Dr Kärner also acknowledged the expertise and dedication of RMR’s 40-member team, which has been pivotal in advancing the Tumas Project since its exploration began 18 years ago. She further noted the strategic shift in management in 2017, which significantly contributed to the project’s progress.

Discussions covered the project’s timeline, from Pre-Feasibility through to the Final Investment Decision (FID), scheduled for the end of Q1 2025, as well as early works on non-process infrastructure. Governor Andre, who visited the Tumas Project in August 2023, expressed interest in the project’s environmental baseline studies. He was particularly intrigued by the potential extraction of vanadium or “Red Cake” alongside uranium.

Another key highlight was the 18% increase in Tumas’ Proven and Probable Ore Reserves, now standing at 79.3 Mlb U₃O₈, extending the Life of Mine to 30 years. The Governor also welcomed the anticipated 600 jobs that will be created during the construction phase.

The engagement with the Office of the Governor underscores RMR’s dedication to transparent communication with key stakeholders and regional leadership as the Deep Yellow Group moves towards the next phase.
