The Chamber of Mines is delighted to welcome Ruusa Nuusiku Kambonde as the newest member of our team. Ruusa, a dynamic young economist, joined the Chamber in early December 2024 and is now part the Economics unit.

Ruusa’s role at the Chamber of Mines involves a variety of key responsibilities aimed at supporting the mining sector through data driven insights and research. Her main duties include sourcing and analysing economic data related to Namibia’s mining sector, identifying local and global trends, and conducting research on key issues affecting the industry. She plays a vital role in generating the Chamber’s Annual Report, economic updates, policy position papers, and research reports for both internal and external stakeholders. In addition, she maintains and updates industry databases, develops data visualizations and presentations, and provides structured reports and advisory input to EXCO, Chamber members, Committees, and Working Committees. She also contributes to presentations, reports, and website updates to promote the mining sector and raise awareness among critical stakeholders such as public institutions, the media, civil society, and investors.

Ruusa brings a wealth of expertise to the Chamber. She holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honors), NQA Level 8, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Science and Technology and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Data Science at the same institution. Additionally, she earned a Diploma in Applied Statistics from the University of Namibia.

With a strong background in data analysis, project management, and research, Ruusa previously served as a Regional Statistician for Omaheke Region at the Namibia Statistics Agency, where she managed regional administration, spatial data, Census and survey implementation and compilation and distribution of data.

Her extensive experience in statistics, policy implementation, and capacity development makes her a valuable asset to the Chamber. Passionate about economic development and deeply interested in the mining industry, Ruusa is eager to learn and contribute to the Chamber’s mission and drive impactful research initiatives.

We are thrilled to have her on board and look forward to her contributions. Please join us in welcoming Ruusa and wishing her great success in her new role.
