Navachab Welcomes 28 New Apprentices

QKR Namibia Navachab Gold Mine officially welcomed a new intake of 28 apprentices on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, as part of the mine’s continued commitment to youth empowerment, skills development, and investing in Namibia’s future workforce.

The apprentices, who come from various institutions across the country, will receive hands-on training and practical exposure in fields such as Welding and Fabrication, Boilermaking, Occupational Health and Safety, and Autotronics.

Executive Director: Human Resources, Elias Kahuva, said the programme remains an important investment in both the company and the country.

“Through internships and apprenticeships, we are developing future professionals while also strengthening the mining industry and contributing to national skills development,” he said.

Kahuva further noted that the programme creates opportunities for young people to gain valuable workplace experience and learn directly from experienced professionals.

One of the new apprentices, Marc-Vivien Gurirab, a second-year Boilermaker apprentice from the Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT), expressed appreciation for the opportunity provided by Navachab.

“I am happy to be part of such a diverse working environment where I can learn from people with different expertise and experience. This opportunity is motivating me to work towards my dream of becoming a mining engineer one day,” he said.

The May 2026 intake reflects Navachab Gold Mine’s ongoing commitment to developing local talent and building a capable future workforce for Namibia.
