NIMT RECEIVES DONATION OF TECHNICAL TRAINING MATERIAL FROM ELSPE MINERALS

NIMT Receives Donation from Elpse Minerals

Elspe Minerals (Pty) Ltd mines high quality gypsum in the Namib Naukluft Park in the Erongo Region. As part of Elspe Mineral’s Social Responsibility programme, a portion of their profit is ploughed back into the community.

On Friday 24 June 2022, Mr Günther Kahl, on behalf of Elspe Minerals (Pty) Ltd. handed over technical training equipment to the value of more than N$70,000 to NIMT in Arandis. The donation consists of the following equipment, which will be used by NIMT to train and educate young Namibians:

  • 2 x Matweld Plasma Cutters;
  • 2 x Matweld MIG Inverter Welders;
  • 1 x Bench Grinder;
  • 2 x Bosch Cordless Impact Drill – GSB180;
  • 6 x Ruler 150mm – stainless steel;
  • 12 x Vernier Calliper 150mm;
  • 6 x MIG Welding Wire: Flux Core 1.2mm 15kg;
  • 1 x Compressor 150 l, 2.5HP;
  • 1 x Ryobi Mitre 255mm Sliding Compound Saw;
  • 1 x Ryobi PL850 Electric Hand Planer;
  • Mr Ralph Bussel, the Executive Director of NIMT, thanked Mr Kahl sincerely for selecting NIMT to receive such a generous donation. He explained that the donation is worth far more than the value of the equipment, because the use of the plasma cutters will significantly reduce the cost of gas, which previously had to be used to cut the steel required for training.

    Mr Bussel reiterated that Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is extremely expensive and that the assistance of the Private sector is required to ensure that NIMT continues to provide high quality Training and Education. He noted that high quality Technical Vocational Education and Training is one of the corner stone for a strong economy, and a resilient mining industry.
