Rössing Uranium, together with its employees, officially handed over N$48,000 for infrastructure upgrades to the Michel Durocher Primary School in the //Karas Region. The school was approached by two Rössing Uranium employees to assess their needs. The mine approved the installation of window glass, painting of window frames, and the creation of a mural on one of the school walls. This donation is part of the mine’s Employee Community Project, an initiative aimed at involving its employees in community projects.
In addition to the work funded by the mine, the employees gathered stationery for the school learners.
At the handover ceremony, project nominators Antoinette Hoeses and Tangeni Petrus said, “While you will all agree with us that we are experiencing climate change, Michel Durocher is not exempted from this. This is why we deemed it fit to install window glass to protect against cold, rainy, and windy weather, and to paint a mural on the wall that signifies the tree of life, with collaborative efforts from the learners and teachers.”
“At Rössing Uranium, we operate under the slogan ‘Working for Namibia,’ and I am confident you will all agree that our journey from Swakopmund (approximately 1,000km away) to be here today is a true testament to our commitment to Namibia,” said Antoinette and Tangeni.
